Trevoh Chalobah to train away from Chelsea first team as defender is targeted by Crystal Palace as potential Marc Guehi replacement

Trevoh Chalobah of Chelsea is apparently being considered by Crystal Palace as a possible replacement for Marc Guehi, who is a target for Newcastle United.
The Telegraph claims that Palace is interested in Maxence Lacroix of Wolfsburg and Chalobah, who was previously an assistant coach for Oliver Glasner of the Eagles. The article further states that Chalobah, a former France Under-20 international, is in the final year of his contract and may be acquired for about £25 million ($31.7 million).

Since being pulled out of Chelsea’s preseason trip to America, Chalobah has been in and out of the team, but his absence hasn’t solved their defensive problems. While Palace looks to get ready for a season without Guehi—who is close to joining Newcastle—a fresh start might be the best thing for his career. But after losing star winger Michael Olise to Bayern Munich earlier in the summer, the Eagles must proceed with caution.
Chalobah will reportedly continue to train with Chelsea’s youth team after their return from America, independent of the first team. The 25-year-old Blues academy graduate still has four years remaining on his Stamford Bridge contract after turning down a move to Nottingham Forest last year.

In the event that Chalobah decides to leave Chelsea, he should act quickly because the summer transfer window closes on August 30. The Premier League season begins in less than two weeks.
