Barcelona defender Jules Kounde is confident that his teammate Lamine Yamal can transfer his impressive performances from Euro 2024 into the domestic season for Barcelona.
Yamal was a standout performer at Euro 2024, playing a crucial role in Spain’s success with four assists, including one in the final, and earning the Young Player of the Tournament award. Despite Kounde being unable to stop Yamal from scoring in Spain’s 2-1 victory over France in the semi-finals, he is optimistic about Yamal’s future.
Yamal had a breakout 2023-24 season with Barcelona, making his first start in August and becoming the youngest player to reach 50 appearances for the club by May, just two months before turning 17. While his talent was evident before the Euros, Kounde is convinced that Yamal’s attitude will help him continue to develop and excel.
“I expect him to continue performing at the same high level we saw last season and during the Euros.
What’s Next for Barcelona?
An even more impressive Yamal is a daunting prospect for La Liga defenders. Barcelona, now under the guidance of new coach Hansi Flick, will kick off their season on August 17 with an away match against Valencia.
