Paris Olympics 2024: PR Sreejesh to be joint flagbearer with Manu Bhaker at Closing Ceremony

Seejesh announced his retirement from the game following India’s victory in the current Games, winning a bronze medal in Paris in 2024. Sreejesh demonstrated his skill at the goalpost by saving 50 of the 62 shots he faced during India’s campaign.

Paris Olympics 2024: The Indian Olympic Association said on Friday that pistol shooter Manu Bhaker and renowned hockey goalie PR Sreejesh would jointly carry the Indian flag at the Games’ Closing Ceremony on Sunday.


In a statement, the IOA stated that it is “delighted to announce the nomination of hockey goalkeeper PR Sreejesh as the joint flag-bearer with pistol shooter Manu Bhaker at the Closing Ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.”

Sreejesh was described as “both an emotional and popular choice within the IOA leadership” by IOA President PT Usha.

After winning a bronze medal for India in the current Games, Seejesh decided to withdraw from the game. Sreejesh demonstrated his skill at the goalpost by saving 50 of the 62 shots he faced during India’s campaign.

What is PR Sreejesh’s next move?
Bhola Nath Singh, the Secretary General of Hockey India, stated earlier today that Sreejesh will take over as head coach of the Junior India Hockey team.

Bhola Nath Singh, speaking to news agency ANI, stated that Hockey India will talk about PR Sreejesh’s appointment as the head coach of the Junior India Hockey team with the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and Center.

“Today is goalie PR Sreejesh’s last game, however I’d like to announce that he will take over as head coach of the Junior India Hockey team…We’ll talk about this with the Indian government and the SAI,” Bhola Nath remarked.

In appreciation of the men’s hockey team’s bronze medal victory, Hockey India has also announced a monetary incentive of ₹15 lakh for each player and ₹7.5 lakh for each support staff member.
