‘ICC should withdraw Test playing status’: Pakistan shown no mercy after humiliating loss to Bangladesh in 1st Test

Bangladesh won their first five-day cricket match against the home side in 14 Tests on Sunday, defeating Pakistan by 10 wickets in the opening Test at Rawalpindi.
With their historic 10-wicket thumping of the hosts on Sunday, Bangladesh achieved their first-ever Test victory over Pakistan, writing history in the process. Bangladesh outplayed Pakistan and established their dominance over the hosts at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Pakistan was unable to match Bangladesh’s energy. The two teams faced off for the fourteenth time, and Najmul Hossain Shanto’s team made history by bringing a dazzling chapter to Bangladesh’s Test cricket history. Before they could record their first-ever Test victory over Pakistan, they had to wait 23 years.

Pakistan chose an all-pace attack for the encounter, but Bangladesh’s spinners took control of the second innings, demonstrating their lack of preparation even before the game began. Pakistan’s second innings ended with them being bowled out for a mere 146 after Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan Miraz shared seven wickets between them.

his addition, captain Shan Masood erred his judgement by calling the opening innings at 448/6. Mushfiqur Rahim hammered 191 runs in response as Bangladesh amassed 565 runs to seize a significant lead.

Pakistan’s batsmen struggled to rally after trailing by 117 runs in the first innings. Mohammad Rizwan top-scored with 51 to show some fightback once more, but he didn’t receive much help from the other end.

Shadman Islam and Zakir Hasan, the opening batsmen for Bangladesh, had no trouble reaching the 30-run goal; they finished the job in just 6.3 overs, recording a historic triumph. Following a disappointing loss in Rawalpindi, Pakistan suffered the wrath of trolls, who infuriated the cricket fans on X.

Pakistan’s dismal home record in Test matches continues.
The third Test of the two-match series, which Bangladesh leads 1-0, will begin in Rawalpindi on August 30.

Prior to this, in a thrilling opening session, Bangladesh established their lead when Pakistan faltered to 108-6 after losing five wickets. Against Shakib and Mehidy, Pakistan’s middle-order batsmen lost wickets by carelessly using their spinners.

The loss brought Pakistan’s home red-ball cricket losing streak to five matches and four draws since its last victory over South Africa in Rawalpindi in 2021.

Due to ongoing construction at the National Bank Stadium, the second Test was shifted from Karachi to Rawalpindi starting on Friday of next week.

Gukesh became the youngest world champion in history after defeating Ding Liren in a 14-game World Chess Championship match in Singapore. For the first time in nearly three weeks, D Gukesh acted like the 18-year-old he is. Overcome by the gravity of the situation, the teenager from Chennai began to sob at the chessboard. It’s not every day that you win the world championship. Gukesh became the youngest world champion in history after defeating Ding Liren in a 14-game World Chess Championship match in Singapore. In fact, the succession line of world chess champions, which began in 1886 and has seen 17 men accede to the throne, has never included a teenager.
