In 2012 and 2016, respectively, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma participated in the Duleep Trophy finals.

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were scheduled to compete for the Duleep Trophy. A few days ago, the reports made that suggestion. Although that proved to be untrue, the BCCI’s directive changed. Players who played for India in international cricket have been absent from the domestic scene for a while. The rosters for the four Duleep Trophy teams indicated that this might soon change.

Why do Rohit and Kohli not play for the Duleep Trophy?
BCCI Secretary Jay Shah discussed the reasons behind the two top professionals’ exclusion from the Duleep Trophy. The BCCI made the decision to limit Rohit and Kohli’s workload by not making them play domestic cricket since they might get hurt. Shah declared that Rohit and Kohli should be “respected” and that nations like Australia and England don’t compel their best players to play local cricket.

Asking Virat and Rohit to play domestic cricket is a ridiculous way to add to their already heavy workload. There’s a chance they could get hurt. You should also have a peek at Australia and England. Their best players don’t participate  in domestic cricket. Our players need to be treated with decency and not Jay Shah stated to the Times of India, “Treat them like servants.”

Laws are established by BCCI.
Every Indian first-class cricket player currently in action has been chosen to start the 2024–25 domestic season. “If you look at the Duleep Trophy squad, everyone else will be playing except for Virat and Rohit,” stated Shah. You must play domestic cricket as and whenever you can. That much is certain.

The BCCI Secretary continued, “Whoever gets hurt and has to miss out can only rejoin the Indian team after demonstrating his fitness in domestic cricket.” This implies that before Shami can play for India, he may need to play some domestic cricket. He will need to demonstrate his fitness by participating in domestic cricket in order to be included in the team against Bangladesh or New Zealand. “We were a touch too rigid.

Ishan Kishan’s route

“He will have to follow the rules,” Shah stated in response to a question about how Ishan Kishan could rejoin the Indian cricket team. He must participate in domestic cricket. After being rejected from the BCCI central contract for not participating in the Ranji Trophy earlier in the year, the southpaw changed his strategy and is currently leading Jharkhand in the Buchi Babu Invitational red-ball competition.
