Starting on August 21, vice-captain Ollie Pope will captain the English team in Ben Stokes’ absence during the Sri Lankan series.
Ben Stokes, the captain of the England Test team, had a serious injury during a men’s Hundred match, ripping his left hamstring. The mysterious English captain, the all-rounder, will miss the rest of the English summer, including the subsequent Test series against Sri Lanka.

On Sunday, August 11, Stokes sustained an injury while batting for the Northern Superchargers. Later on, he was spotted using crutches, which made people wonder how serious the problem was. He will miss the forthcoming three-match Test series against Sri Lanka due to a hamstring rupture, which was confirmed by subsequent scans. Ian Bell, a former teammate of Ben Stokes, was recently appointed as SLC’s batting coach.

Stokes’ absence will be a big loss for the team since he played a key role in England’s Test comeback. Ollie Pope, the vice captain, will assume captaincy for the Sri Lankan series.

Return of Stokes against Pakistan
In terms of their summer schedule, England has played no more Tests after the three matches against Sri Lanka. They will play five ODIs and three T20Is against Australia, their bitter rivals. Nevertheless, England will visit Pakistan for three Test matches after extending invitations to Australia and Sri Lanka. The matches, where Stokes is eyeing a return to lead the Three Lions, will be held in Multan, Karachi, and Rawalpindi.

As a player who is “uncapped,” MS Dhoni may sound exciting, but he is the talk of the town right now. However, what are the possibilities that MSD will join CSK as an uncapped player?
When it comes to cricket, there’s no greater name than MS Dhoni, whether it’s about winning all the major tournaments while wearing the India jersey as captain or inspiring his fiercely competitive Chennai team to five IPL titles. You expect MS Dhoni to take the champion’s seat with ease wherever it may be found.

Due to a broken finger, Zak Crawley will already be absent for England in the Sri Lanka series. In his place, Dan Lawrence is expected to begin the batting; last week, they called up Jordan Cox to provide batting cover. In the unlikely event that Stokes is sidelined, Ollie Pope, their deputy captain, is the overwhelming favorite to captain England for the first time in international cricket.

There are just two three-day breaks in between Tests in the Sri Lanka series, which is crammed into a tight schedule. After that, England is scheduled to go to Pakistan in early October in advance of a three-match series that begins on October 7 in Multan.
