The Internet began mocking Gautam Gambhir as Sri Lanka broke a 27-year drought by shocking India with a 110-run victory in the third One-Day International to win the series 2-0.
At the third and final One-Day International (ODI) held on Wednesday, August 7, at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka defeated India by 110 runs. After winning the toss, Sri Lanka decided to bat first. They achieved a difficult score of 248/7. Even though India got off to a strong start with some boundary hits from Rohit Sharma, the innings fell apart quickly. The Indian batting line was completely destroyed by Sri Lankan spinner Dunith Wellalage, who sent important players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav back to the pavilion. Men in Blue were consequently knocked out for a pitiful 138 in 26.1 overs.
