Aman talked candidly about the medal’s meaning to him in an NDTV interview, adding that while winning the gold was always his goal, having this medal will spur him on to great performance in 2028.
“My goal upon arriving was to bring home an Olympic medal. Desired to win the gold, but everything works out for the best. I’ll prepare myself better the next time. Aman needed to lose weight before the weigh-in since he was overweight after losing to Japan’s Rei Higuchi in the semifinals. The wrestler claimed that while his trainers put him through numerous training sessions, they worked on his weight all night long and he could not sleep at all.
“We worked very hard to shed that weight. I spent two hours practicing after the fight. I worked out at the gym at one in the morning. I was halfway done by three. But I didn’t get any rest at all. The primary goal was to bring the weight down to the allowable limit. did not get any sleep before to the fight,” he clarified.
Vinesh Phogat had previously made it to the 50 kg wrestling final, but she was eliminated from the gold medal competition due to his weight. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) heard a challenge to the judgment, and a ruling is anticipated by Sunday night.
