Fortaleza B.C./CFO has confirmed a significant contract renewal to assemble the roster for the NBB CAIXA 2024/25 season. Dexter McClanahan, the top scorer for the Cearense team in the last national championship, has renewed his contract and will remain for another season.
During NBB CAIXA 2023/24, McClanahan led Fortaleza B.C./CFO in scoring with an average of 15.7 points per game, ranking sixth overall in the league. He also recorded 3.4 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and an efficiency rating of 13.2. “I love Fortaleza and I’m happy to be able to stay. I hope we have a good preseason and start the regular season well. I believe it will be a good year for us,” said the 26-year-old player.
Dexter McClanahan is set to participate in his third NBB CAIXA season. The American has been selected for the All-Star Game twice and was the top scorer in the 2022/23 season, averaging 21.4 points. Over two seasons, he has averaged 18.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.2 assists.
Additionally, Fortaleza B.C./CFO has extended contracts for Seba Orresta and Fernando Salsamendi.
Alongside Dexter McClanahan, Fortaleza B.C./CFO has also renewed Cassiano’s contract for the 2024/25 NBB CAIXA season. Known for his versatility, Cassiano stands out for his speed, adept dribbling, and solid defensive capabilities, which were crucial for the team last season.
Cassiano averaged 8.7 points, 3.4 rebounds, and three assists in the NBB 2023/24, including his contributions during the playoffs where Fortaleza B.C./CFO reached the quarterfinals but were defeated by Flamengo. The 27-year-old also participated in the Skills Challenge during the All-Star Game.
The team from Ceará has also renewed contracts with Argentine players Seba Orresta and Fernando Salsamendi for another season.
NBB CAIXA is a league organized by the Liga Nacional de Basquete with primary sponsorship from Caixa Econômica Federal and Loterias Caixas, in partnership with the Brazilian Clubs Committee (CBC) and official sponsors Sportsbet.io, Penalty, EMS, and UMP, supported by IMG Arena, Genius Sports, EY, and NBA.
