Senior counsel Haris Salve decided to represent Vinesh Phogat in the Court of Arbitration for Sports on Thursday, marking a significant advancement in the athlete’s legal battle against her expulsion from the Olympics.
The Court of Arbitration for Sports’ hearing on the matter is now over. The final decision in the case was expected to be announced by the Court of Arbitration on Saturday at 6 p.m. Paris time (i.e., 9:30 p.m. IST). This has now been deferred to August 11.

Burroughs, who is regarded as one of the best freestyle wrestlers of all time, has won gold at the World Championship six times in the London 2012 Olympics.

According to the IOA, “The ad hoc division of CAS has extended time for the Sole Arbitrator Hon. Dr Annabelle Bennett in the Vinesh Phogat vs. United World Wrestling & the International Olympic Committee matter to give a decision till 6-00 p.m. on August 13, 2024,” according to ANI.
